The New Media Interdisciplinary Certificate at the University of Georgia is a credential certifying student understanding of and proficiency in new media.
Offered through the New Media Institute, students take digital, analytic, and communication technology courses to explore the historical, political, social, and economic dimensions of new media technologies and issues shaping emerging new media. Brown bag discussions, panels, and participation in new media events (e.g. TEDxUGA) supplement course learning.
Culmination of the certificate is a capstone project where each student prepares a new media project for real clients. This helps to ensure that each certificate graduate is an expert in the application of technology within his/her chosen profession.
