    With essential training and decision-making skills, you will be ready for an exciting career in nursing with this Master’s degree in Adult Nursing.

    Gain the skills that employers need with our Master's in Adult Nursing. We provide quality training alongside strong tutor support and a vibrant student experience. Our first-class team of skilled, expert and research-active nursing lecturers will help you achieve your full potential, with a view to your registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as an Adult Nurse.

    As part of the course, your clinical placements will span across the whole spectrum of Adult Nursing. We offer the opportunity to undergo placements with internationally renowned Trusts such as St Bart's Health and Kings College, as well as more locally based services in South East London and Kent.

    All nursing students on courses from September 2020 will benefit from guaranteed, additional support of at least £5,000 a year, which they will not need to pay back. See more information.

    Academic entry requirements

    For entry to our Master's programmes, you will need to have met the following:

    • Bachelors Degree with 60% or GPA 2.5/4 for UK 2:2 and GPA 3/4 for UK 2:1

    For some courses, you will need to have studied relevant subjects at university to be eligible. Our admissions team will determine this once you apply.

    Careers and placements

    Will I have a work placement?

    We offer the opportunity to undergo placements with internationally renowned trusts such as St Bart's Health and Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation, as well as more locally based services in South East London and Kent.

    Your training will provide you with hands on experience and the time to put your theoretical learning into practice, alongside highly skilled Adult Nurses in acute and rehabilitation services, specialist fields such as intensive care nursing, emergency care and public health.

    How long is my placement?

    You will spend 50% of your time each year in these valuable work placements, where you will be assessed by qualified practitioners. These placements will be in a variety of hospital and community settings, which will enable you to fully understand the needs of patients. As an adult nurse, you will play a vital role in providing specialist support and interventions.

    What sort of careers do graduates pursue?

    Successful completion of the programme brings first level registration as a qualified adult nurse and will equip you to work in a wide variety of settings such as community service, GP practices, acute hospital and specialist nurse roles.

    MSc Nursing graduates are well-positioned to gain promotion to senior and leading roles in nursing and healthcare sectors. This includes posts such as advanced practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nurse consultants, nurse teaching, research and senior managerial and operational posts.

    Do you provide employability services?

    Our services are designed to help you achieve your potential and support your transition towards a rewarding graduate career.

    The Employability and Careers Service provides support when you are preparing to apply for placements and graduate roles. It includes CV clinics, mock interviews and employability skills workshops.

    Each School also has its own Employability Officer, who works closely with the industry and will provide specific opportunities relevant to your own course.
