    Nursing (DNP) - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

    About

    The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) DNP specialty prepares nurses to focus on mental health care and the mind-body connection for patients. Students will learn the modalities to diagnose and treat depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, social disorders, and more. Graduates will work with the patients over the short term or on long term to diagnose and develop treatment plans with the patient. Applicants may enter the program as a post-BSN student or a post-master's (in nursing) student. Graduates of the PMHNP specialty are prepared as advanced practice nurses and are eligible for Nurse Practitioner certification.

    Admissions Requirements

    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree

    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
    • Degree awarded from a regionally accredited institution

    RN Licensure

    • Enrollment in the DNP program requires registered nurse licensure. Admission is conditional upon the individual obtaining and maintaining the license in active and good standing.

    All applicants to the DNP program should review the application information on the College of Nursing's website. In order to apply for this program you must first submit an online application through NursingCAS followed by the University of Arizona Graduate College GradApp.

     
    Standardized Tests

    We do not require any standardized tests for admission to the DNP Program.

     
    Funding Opportunities

    Students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program are eligible for university and college funding.  All students are encouraged to file an updated FAFSA form each year. The College of Nursing awards internal scholarships on a rolling basis each spring to currently admitted students.  

     
    Admissions Deadlines

    Applications for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialty must be submitted by October 31st 2021 to be considered for the first admission cycle for Fall 2022 cohort.

    International applicants will not be considered for conditional admission by this program.
