    About

    You will develop a systematic understanding of the care of patients in obesity and weight management; a critical awareness of current issues affecting the care of patients undertaking weight and obesity management treatments; an advanced knowledge of obesity and weight management that will facilitate decision-making in unpredictable and/or complex situations.

    Adipose Tissue and Energy Balance

    In this module you will develop a critical understanding and knowledge of adipose tissue, fat deposition and storage, and human energy balance.

    Obesity Epidemiology and Population Health

    During this module you will critically explore obesity as a chronic disease, its epidemiology and the global burden of obesity, and obesity-related comorbidities in populations.

    Obesity in Relation to Disease, Genetics and Environmental Factors

    In this module you will develop a critical understanding of the medical, genetic, and environmental factors that can cause weight gain and obesity.

    Personalised Weight Management (1): Nutrition, Physical Activity and Behavioural Interventions

    In this module you will enhance the knowledge and clinical skills required to effectively evaluate and treat obesity with emphasis on personalised care, nutrition, physical activity and behavioural modification.

    Personalised Weight Management (2): Medical Treatments and Emerging Therapies

    During this module you will enhance the knowledge and clinical skills required to effectively evaluate and treat obesity with emphasis on personalised care, pharmacotherapy and new and emerging therapies.

    Personalised Weight Management (3): Surgical Interventions

    During this module you will enhance the knowledge and clinical skills required to effectively evaluate and treat obesity with personalised care and surgery, and to manage the post-bariatric surgery patient.

    Academic Qualifications

    • Students who have completed a 4 year Bachelor degree (60% overall or a GPA of 2.5 or above on the scale of 4, 4 being the highest) can be considered for entry onto a relevant postgraduate programme of study.
    • Applicants with other relevant qualifications or work experience may be considered on a case by case basis.

    English Program Requirements

    International applicants will need to have achieved an overall of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component/TOEFL 72 overall and a minimum of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing or equivalent.
