    PGDE (Primary) Overview

    This programme provides the formal teaching qualification for provisional registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) – giving you the skills, knowledge and experience to build a career as a primary school teacher.

    You will cover a wide range of subjects that feature in the primary school curriculum including English/Literacy, Health and Wellbeing, and Mathematics/Numeracy.

    The programme enables you to develop core skills in planning, teaching, assessment and evaluation strategies, classroom organisation, building relationships in the classroom, and contemporary issues in Scottish education.

    Entry Requirements

     Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree pass  For programmes requiring Honours Degree applicants must have achieved the following grades:  Excellent  Good  Very Good

    English Program Requirements

    If you do not fall into any of the categories above you will need to provide proof of your English language ability through the International English Language Test System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

    Duo Lingo

    For 2022-23 entry, the University has approved the use of the online Duolingo English test as evidence of English language ability. UWS will accept an overall score between 90-115 with no component score below 90.

    8. Pay the deposit

    You will be required to pay a deposit to secure your place at the university.

    9: Attend a TEG credibility interview

    The purpose of this interview is to assess if students are credible and genuine. At this stage you will need to prepare your CAS documents for review.

    10. Apply for Visa

    International students, including nationals from EEA or Switzerland, would require a student visa to study at UWS London.
