    About

    Why Pharmacy at RCSI Dublin?

RCSI's five-year MPharm is a highly prestigious, internationally-recognised and portable degree. The programme offers you a wide range of career options in areas such as:

    • Community and hospital pharmacy
    • The pharmaceutical industry
    • Medical research and development
    • Regulation
    • Academia

Please read the entry requirements to see if you are eligible for this degree.

The aim of the programme is to provide you with an outstanding experience that allows you to become a pharmacist, and a leader in healthcare and innovation. You will be able to demonstrate the competencies for professional practice as a pharmacist. We have revised the programme based on our years of experience, in consultation with students, patients, employers and other key stakeholders. The programme is accredited by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland for registration as a pharmacist in Ireland.

The programme will enable you to develop as a pharmacist who is a collaborator, communicator, health advocate, leader, professional and scholar. Our MPharm degree is clinically-focused from the outset; the patient is at the core of everything you learn from the first year right through to final year.

You will develop your clinical and professional skills through patient case studies and patient consultation labs. You will train in a safe, simulated environment in Europe's largest and most modern clinical simulation facility at our city centre campus.

You will be a reflective practitioner, committed to continuous development throughout your professional journey. You, and your colleagues and friends, will excel in the diverse and emerging roles of the pharmacist, nationally and internationally.

Uniquely, in second year, you will complete your community pharmacy placement over a 12-week period rather than in one full two-week block. This will allow you to align your practical experiences each week with what you learn on campus.

Why study Undergraduate Pharmacy at RCSI?

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

Students from the Middle East and Gulf countries who have taken internationally recognised high school programmes (such as A Level or International Baccalaureate) are eligible to apply directly to RCSI for the Pharmacy programme.

Students who graduate from government/public and bilingual high school programmes that are delivered throughout the Middle East cannot apply for direct entry to Pharmacy at RCSI. Such students must complete a recognised pre-university/foundation programme (see sample list below) prior to applying to RCSI.

Please note: Kuwaiti nationals applying to RCSI undergraduate degree programmes are required to apply via the Kuwait Ministry of Higher Education only.

    English Program Requirements

    IELTS

Teaching in RCSI is through the medium of English. As a consequence, all applicants are required to demonstrate a high level of English language competence. Applicants whose first language is not English must present a minimum overall average IELTS score of 6.5 with no individual band (reading, writing, listening and speaking) lower than 6.0. IELTS Certificates must be less than two years old at the time of admission. Equivalent scores in TOEFL are also acceptable.

Applicants presenting programmes that are delivered entirely through English (e.g. International Baccalaureate or A Levels) are not required to supply an IELTS certificate as part of their initial application.
