    About

High energy particle physics and cosmology grapple with the most fundamental of physical questions about the building blocks of matter and the origin of the cosmos. Over the course of our three-year BSc Physics with Particle Physics and Cosmology degree, you will delve into fundamental physical concepts and mathematical techniques to learn about the quantum world and its relation to the cosmos. You will study from a selection of diverse modules including astronomy & astrophysics, quantum information, gravitation & cosmology, nuclear and particle physics. You will have the opportunity to work on advanced projects, under the supervision of internationally recognised high energy particle physicists and cosmologists in Swansea.

IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent English test.

Access to Science – Refer to admissions

All applications will be considered on an individual basis, and we will look at the whole application when deciding whether to make an offer of a place, including: the balance, nature and quality of A-level, AS and GCSE subjects (or equivalent); personal statement and referee’s comments.

    English Program Requirements

All students must demonstrate that they have achieved a certain level of English before starting their programme. You will need to provide a recognised English language test or qualification before you can be accepted to Swansea University

Specific English requirements are listed on each course page under the 'entry requirements' section. Our English Language requirements are listed as IELTS scores but we accept the wide range of other English language tests shown below.

Please note that some research scholarship, funded positions, may require a higher English Language test score than standard to be obtained prior to enrolment or held at the point of application. Details of possible bespoke English Language entry requirements are listed on each separate scholarship advert. Our current active research scholarships can be found here.

If your English scores do not exactly meet our requirements, you could still be accepted if you successfully complete an English Language Pre-sessional Programme at Swansea’s English Language Training Services (ELTS) at the required level before starting your academic programme.
