Politics, International Studies and German BA

Course overview

This degree combines the study of Politics and International Studies with a specific focus on German language and culture. It looks at how German society and culture have been central to the development of modern Europe.

You can also get involved with extracurricular activity linked to your studies, such as the PAIS Film Club. You will spend your second or third year studying or on work placement in Germany or Austria.

The course is good preparation for a career in politics, although it develops transferable skills in investigative and evaluative research, presentation and critical analysis, which can be applied in many careers.

In our Politics, International Studies and German BA, the first year does not count towards your final degree classification. However, all students are required to pass the first year of the degree programme in order to proceed to the Honours degree. The second and final years of study contribute 50% each to the final degree result.

Study abroad

The third year of the degree is usually spent studying and/or on work placement in Germany or Austria.

We welcome applications for our International Foundation and Undergraduate courses from applicants from Jordan.

High School qualification is not considered for entry. We would require completion of an approved international foundation programme, such as the Warwick International Foundation Programme. Alternatively IB, A Levels, or other European or North American system will also be considered.
