Students of Power Engineering should possess strong powers of imagination and abstraction; it is also important that they have a technical flair, an interest in mathematics, and a logical, pragmatic and realistic way of thinking. Good foreign language skills are very important for entering the job market. Solid English language skills are therefore advantageous.

An undergraduate degree in a related field of study, such as
- Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (Bachelor of Science)
- Power Engineering (Bachelor of Science)
- Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor of Science)
- Sustainable Engineering (Bachelor of Science)
- Production and Logistics (Bachelor of Science)
For master's degree programmes with unrestricted admission, all applicants who fulfil the admission requirements will be admitted a university place. The exact admission requirements can be found in the admission regulations:

Career
The Master of Science degree in Power Engineering qualifies graduates to take on managerial functions in various company departments. Graduates assume project responsibility for globally operating companies, medium-sized enterprises and smaller emerging engineering firms in the field of power supply, component manufacture (e.g. turbine and generator construction) or in the construction of power stations and industrial plant. Graduates are also capable of addressing issues relating to building energy and the energy industry. They also have the option of pursuing a doctorate.
