    Pre-Modern Studies

    About

    The Option in Pre-Modern Studies answers a growing student interest in the thought, literature, and history of the pre-industrial (pre-1800) world. While the more remote past is often romanticized as a "golden fantasy realm," the study of historical culture in world civilizations from antiquity through early modernity (ca. 1800) allows students a window onto the origins and development of culture informing modern global society. 

    An option is a "mini-minor" a set of courses in one discipline that can be completed in conjunction with any undergraduate degree program, allowing you to focus on an additional subject of interest.

    Students who have fulfilled the requirements for an Honours or General degree in any subject may graduate with an Option in Pre-Modern Studies if they have successfully completed 5.0 credits from the courses listed below, including at least 0.5 credt from each of the periods and an additional 3.5 credits from any of the periods:

    How to Apply

    You are encouraged to apply to Trent as early as possible as some programs have limited enrolment. 

    • Ontario secondary students will use the OUAC 101 application form at www.ouac.on.ca/101
    • If you are not currently registered as an Ontario secondary student, please apply using the OUAC 105 application and refer to the special application instructions below. www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-105/
    • Domestic students (Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents) not currently enrolled in an Ontario high school, and wishing to only apply to Trent University, can do so through the Trent direct application If you are an international applicant or are applying to multiple universities/programs, please apply at www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-105/

    Access Codes:

    If you are currently enrolled in an Ontario secondary school, guidance counsellors will provide you with access codes (school number, student number, temporary PIN) to access the OUAC site and application process.

    All other applicants will create user profiles on the OUAC site and will not require access codes.
