    About

    Professional Coach Certification

Coaching is both an art and a science; professional coaches understand that. They understand how to effectively communicate with clients in ways that generate real results. An effective coach guides, inspires and empowers others, all to help them reach their potential and take them where they would like to be personally and professionally. If you've ever wanted to be a motivating force for those around you, professional coaching may be your calling.

The Level 2 Professional Coach Certification Program is designed for:

    • Those seeking to become professional coaches in a private practice
    • Managers who want to enhance their innate coaching skills to fundamentally improve their organization's talent retention and relationship with employees
    • Internal trainers and organizational development professionals charged with training other managers and sharing their coaching expertise
    • Near-retirees preparing for a rewarding career they can pursue for many years to come
    • Practicing coaches who want to take their certification to a higher level
Individuals desiring to enhance their personal relationships

The Level 1 Coaching for Leaders Program is designed for:

Groups of leaders from an organization who want to strengthen their leadership abilities by incorporating strong coaching skills into their approach. The program is designed to support leaders in identifying situations in which coaching skills are most relevant and how to incorporate a coaching approach into managing and mentoring situations. Since participants are from the same organization, the program provides an opportunity to apply coaching to actual organizational issues and to be an impetus for shifting organizational culture.

    Professional Coaching Skills

The Level 2 Professional Coach Certification Program provides 141.5 hours of training and is divided into 8 course modules.

The Level 1 Coaching for Leaders Program provides 60 hours of training and is divided into 7 course modules.

All modules build upon the lessons learned in earlier modules. Both programs are taught in English, delivered virtually, and aim to aid in the growth of each individual participant. The skills learned throughout the program enhance effectiveness, and include:

    • Understanding the coaching relationship
    • Demonstrating competency in coaching methods
    • Developing trust in the coaching relationship
    • Maintaining ethical behavior and attitude
    • Gaining a stronger sense of self-awareness

    Entry Requirements

    Complete Your Application

All prospective graduate students will be required to submit official transcripts from all colleges attended. Most programs require letters of recommendation and a personal statement. GMAT and LSAT scores are required for the schools of Business and Law, respectively. GRE scores are required for most doctoral programs and some master's programs. Other requirements could include a writing sample, resume, audition or interview.

    International Students

If your undergraduate and/or graduate degrees are from an institution located outside of the United States, you must use a transcript credential evaluation service to obtain a course-by-course report. The official reports must be sent directly to Duquesne University from the organization you order through and will qualify as official transcripts. Please review our Transcript Credential Evaluation Instructions.

    Application Deadlines

Application deadlines vary by program. Many programs allow students to apply for the fall or spring semester. Some programs also allow for a summer start term.

    Credit transfers

Generally, an academic department may accept credits from a regionally-accredited university that correspond to the Duquesne curriculum and in which you have earned at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
The program director of the program or department offering the course establishes the final determination of the acceptance or denial of transfer credits.
