    Taking a vocational and practical perspective this Foundation Degree gives you a firm understanding of both general and criminal psychology and how it can be applied to human behaviour offending and society's response to offenders.

    The course provides you with a critical overview of both the well-established and emerging theories concepts and debates as well as exploring research methods and findings. It then creates opportunities for you to consider how these underlying theories and concepts can be applied to real-world situations.

    The overall aim is to develop a knowledge base and range of skills that will enhance your future career aspirations and opportunities.

    This flexible Foundation Degree - which allows you to work while you study - investigates the psychology behind criminal behaviour and how it can be used to detect and prevent crime or help when detaining and prosecuting criminals.

    The course explores both general psychology as well as aspects of psychology relevant to criminal behaviour. Units cover key areas including crime and justice; diversity and difference; development from childhood to maturity; and the causes of crime and criminality.

    It provides you with an appreciation of the various theories and perspectives in psychology particularly in relation to criminal behaviour. You also learn how to apply these theories and perspectives to real-life work situations through a range of case studies.

    To apply for a place on an undergraduate course (BA/BSc) you need to have completed your high school education (12 years) and have a pass equivalent to two UK A level passes and have the required English language qualification.
