    About

    The online Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is designed to be an interdisciplinary, professional degree in public health. The MPH Program provides opportunities for students to obtain broad knowledge and basic skills in the core areas of public health. Students are able to acquire proficiency in one or more specialized areas through advanced coursework, and gain experience in applying advanced knowledge to the solution of actual health problems in community settings during internship training.

    The program is designed to be a two year program for full-time for working professionals.

    Health Promotion

    The curriculum examines the sociocultural factors that influence health and health behavior. The concentration operates under the philosophy that education, communication and effective implementation of sound health policies and initiatives can improve the quality of life around you. Learn to plan education strategies and evaluate their effectiveness. Promote healthier lifestyles in culturally diverse populations around the world.

    • Bachelor's degree with 3.0 GPA
    • One course in college-level introductory, human, or general biology
    • One course in college algebra or calculus
    • Three letters of recommendation

    Applications should be submitted through SOPHAS, the centralized application service for accredited schools and programs of public health, at www.sophas.org.  With a supplement application completed through The University of Arizona's Graduate College at http://grad.arizona.edu.

    International Students - Tests of English Proficiency
    International applicants are required by the UA Graduate College to submit a TOEFL score of 90 on the iBT (web-based) test. For students who take the IELTS examination, an overall score of 7 is required, with a score of no less than 6 on any individual band or module.  TOEFL and IELTS test scores must be dated within two years of the year of enrollment.

    • International applicants to Arizona Online campus, Global Direct campus, or a Global Microcampus should choose the Distance Learner (DL) visa type in their Application Profile.
    • International applicants to the Main campus must currently hold a US visa that permits incidental study. 
    • Please verify your visa eligibility with International Student Services before applying.  The application fee is non-refundable and will not be refunded if your visa status is not eligible.  
    • Applicants must meet all Graduate College minimum admission requirements, including English proficiency.
