    Overview The curriculum of the Public Policy program at University of Maryland Baltimore County is divided into core courses, disciplinary foundation courses and courses in a specific policy area or discipline. Students with a master’s degree will have fewer course requirements.Program OverviewStudents seeking the Ph.D. degree must pass must pass a comprehensive exam course (PUBL 609), and write and defend a dissertation. Each doctoral student plans an individual curriculum with his or her advisor.   The 48 hours of formal course work normally includes the six core courses, one course in each of the three foundation disciplines (economics, political science and sociology), five courses in an area of concentration and two relevant elective courses. Students with appropriate previous training may complete their course work with fewer credits required.
    The Ph.D curriculum of the Public Policy program at University of Maryland Baltimore County for a student without a relevant master’s degree requires 48 hours of coursework and 18 hours of dissertation research.

    • 1 : The UMBC Graduate School will accept official WES ICAP Course-by-Course evaluations as fulfillment of the requirement for official transcripts in the admissions process. The WES evaluation is optional. The Graduate School needs to receive either an official WES evaluation or official transcripts. The WES ICAP Course-by-Course evaluation includes copies of the official transcripts and degree certificates that have been verified by WES, and it includes a course-by-course evaluation. The evaluation must be sent directly from WES to the UMBC Graduate School in order to be considered official.You will use Fully English and Fully another language when you find on the program website French, English or French or English.
