    If you have an eye for detail a head for finances and the drive to study for a hands-on career working as a quantity surveyor will suit you perfectly. This course gives you the essential skills you need to work in the construction industry in this important role.

    Quantity surveyors are the financial controllers of a construction project and are vital members of any construction team. The value engineering element of the role is often central to the survival of the company when it comes to ensuring the work is completed to the satisfaction of all parties in the contract; it meets all regulations and requirements; and it keeps within its budget.

    In your first year of the course you learn the core elements of quantity surveying such as measurement surveying and management; regulations cost quality and inspection; and sustainable technologies. As you progress you focus on putting learnt knowledge into practice with an industry-standard approach to cost-effective production technical skills and project development. Units may include building technology; contract administration and control; and materials and supply chains.

    This course provides you with essential skills that the current industry is expecting from the Quantity Surveying graduates and instils the work ethic as well as transferable skills necessary to function effectively in construction industry.

    The Value Engineering element is probably the most important element to the survival of the company in as much as how the work could be completed to the satisfaction of all parties to the contract and achievement of satisfactory outcome whilst making for economic construction that meets the requirements.

    Quantity Surveyors are the financial controllers of the construction projects and are positioned in an important place within the hierarchy of team they would often progress to Project Management and even to Financial Directorships of companies.

    The requirement of the Quantity Surveying discipline is detail orientation and application of principles hence it often suits studious people who are ready to look at things in detail and evaluate processes in detail.
