    Overview Basic Degree Information/DescriptionReading is presented as a linguistic, cognitive, and socio-cultural process in relation to other language arts processes such as listening and speaking, with particular emphasis on writing and the writing process. Students in the Reading and Literacy program of The University of Texas at San Antonio select one of two program emphases: instruction or research. The instruction emphasis is designed for teachers and can lead to completion of the requirements for certification as a reading specialist. All international transcripts must be recorded in English or officially translated to English along with an evaluation of the transcripts from Foreign Credentials Service of AmericaIndividuals who do not meet the University-wide graduate admission GPA may be required to submit GRE scores.
