    Foundation Year

    The introductory foundation year is designed todevelop your awareness, understanding and problem-solving capabilities for typicalchallenges experienced in the built environment.

    With a focus on your progression,the foundation year also introduces core skills in communicationand teamwork that you will needto succeed at an advanced study level. You'll exploretechnology, design and professional practice.

    Once you successfullycomplete and passthe foundation year, you will progress on to our fullBSc (Hons) Real Estate Development and Managementdegree.

    BSc Honours Degree

    For a further three years of study - or four, if you choose anindustry placement, you'll develop your knowledge and skills within real estate development.

    • In year one, you'll study essential modules inregulation, economics, principles of valuation and appreciation of technology
    • As you progress to year two, you will expand your knowledge and will be introduced to specific topics, including property law, property asset management and urban regeneration
    • As you head into your final year, you will advance your studies in areas including property development, historic conservation and strategic asset management. You will also complete a research-based dissertation about a built environment subject of your choice

    Our experienced academic team draws on strong construction industry links to ensure you a stimulating range of external guest lecturers, placements and career networking opportunities. You will benefit from field visits,practitioner-led lectures and real-world problem-solving work developed for and byindustry.

    Located at the heart of the largest property and construction market outside of London, Salford is a great place to study real estate.We take advantage of our amazing location to visit live and recently completed development projects in Salford, Manchester and the North West.

    Collaboration is core to our values, so we strive to embed this throughout your studies. You will experience group projects that will buildyour confidence and capabilities in team working,problem-solving and communication- all desirable skills for real-world property and real estate careers.

    Industry Placement

    On the BSc (Hons) course, you will have the option to take an industryplacement year between years two and three. Although you will be responsible for securing your placement, our tutors will support you in finding a role, and monitor your progress throughout.

    Industry placements are an excellent way to enhance your CV, gain hands-on work experience and build industry connections. We often find that placement students achieve higher final year grades.

  • Build the technical skills and confidence ready to progress to the Real Estate Surveying undergraduate degree
  • Gain essential analytical and problem solving skills so you can study the built environment
  • Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Applicants who have successfully passed a diploma from a community college, intermediate diploma or associate degree with an overall mark of C+ or better will be considered for undergraduate entry.

    English Program Requirements

    Equivalent qualifications

    English language requirements are shown on individual course pages. Generally, this is shown as an IELTS grade, however we accept a range of equivalent qualifications. 

    As a general guide:

    For undergraduate courses we require IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent

    For postgraduate courses, we require IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent

    For the International Foundation Year, we require IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum 4.0 in each component) in UKVI IELTS for UKVI (Academic)

    The approved equivalent qualifications list includes the following: 

    Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) 

    University of Salford English language courses

    Regional-based qualifications

    Majority English Speaking Countries as deemed by UKVI

    Medium of English Institutions

    Applicants who require a Student Route visa to study in the UK may require evidence of a Secure English Language test rather than an examination or qualification due to visa requirements, as deemed by the UK Government Home Office, Visa and Immigration (UKVI).
