About
Renewable Energy and Clean Technology also known as REaCT is a truly multi-disciplinary course focused on key areas that underpin the rapidly developing renewable energy and low carbon sectors, built around core understandings of electrical power generation from solar, wind and marine sources.
This course covers the interfacing and distribution technologies required to exploit these sources, and provides a sound understanding of the fundamental concepts, the design and analysis techniques required for engineering renewable energy systems. It also equips the students with the knowledge required to understand how to convert and distribute electrical energy from renewable sources, integrate it into low-carbon energy districts and buildings, through an intelligent use of flexible distributed resources, such as storage devices. However, the impact of renewables technologies diminishes if demand and carbon emission issues are not tackled, hence critical policy topics are also key to the course.

Entry Requirements
We require a good Upper Second Class Honours degree or international equivalent in any of the following: electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering, civil engineering, advanced structural engineering, physics, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent scientific discipline which includes a significant mathematical and engineering content. Other subject areas may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on their level of numerical analysis and modelling content, for example economics, environmental sciences, finance, commerce.
Applicants will be considered with alternative qualifications who also have appropriate industrial experience.
When assessing your academic record, we take into account your grade average with particular emphasis on relevant course units and the standing of the institution where you studied your qualification.
Applicants who are made a conditional offer of a place must demonstrate that they have met all the conditions of their offer by 31st July 2025.
English Program Requirements
All applicants to the University (from the UK and Overseas) are required to show evidence of English Language proficiency. The minimum English Language requirement for this course is:
- IELTS at least 6.5 overall with no subtest below 6.0.
- TOEFL iBT : at least 90 overall with no subtest below 20. We do not accept 'MyBestScore'. We do not accept TOEFL iBT Home Edition.
- Pearson PTE : at least 70 overall with no subtest below 65.
- An acceptable equivalent English Language qualification .
