Overview The emphasis of the Respiratory Therapy program of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is to enhance and advance the student’s professional career in respiratory therapy with additional education in professional writing, teaching strategies, healthcare administration, evidence-based research, critical appraisal skills, and advanced critical care management.This degree program is offered completely online through the Office of Distance Education and the Department of Kinesiology. Students seeking admission into this program will already be licensed respiratory therapists who have the RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care. The program culminates in a capstone experience that is developed around the students’ specific professional interest area. Students learn the detailed research process and have the opportunity to present their finalized clinical, educational, administrative, or population-based project prior to graduation. The accomplished faculty are committed to preparing students to become that “next generation” respiratory therapist.Grade RequirementsFor all required courses for the Respiratory Therapy major, students must receive a grade of C or above to be considered successful.
