    About

    Program details

The College of Rehabilitation Sciences offers both a three-year professional program and a degree completion program for registered respiratory therapists.
We are unique amongst Canadian educational institutions, delivering the only English entry-to-practice undergraduate degree program in respiratory therapy in the country.

    Bachelor of Respiratory Therapy

    Expected duration: 4 years

The respiratory therapy program is a three-year program leading to a bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy (BRT). Applicants must take 24 credit hours consisting of prerequisite courses plus electives of the student's choice in order to be considered for admission.

Bachelor of Respiratory Therapy Degree Completion Program

    Expected duration: 2 years

The Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in Respiratory Therapy degree completion program is designed for Registered Respiratory Therapists who wish to complete their degree.

Students admitted to the degree completion program will be appointed an academic advisor who is a faculty member of the Department of Respiratory Therapy. The academic advisor will determine program coursework requirements, advise students on academic matters and review student progress.

Students will be required to complete the equivalent required coursework of the traditional entry-to-practice Bachelor of Respiratory Therapy degree (or equivalent coursework). A minimum of 30 credit hours of coursework must be completed for the Bachelor of Respiratory Therapy degree completion program.

    The degree completion program includes:

    1. All RESP and REHB courses which have not been completed as part of the student's previous respiratory therapy program or subsequent post-secondary studies.
    2. Prerequisite coursework which is deemed foundational or complimentary to any the RESP or REHB coursework (or equivalent courses).
    3. The balance of the coursework (to a total of 30 credit hours) will include elective courses that support the student's academic and professional learning goals, as determined collaboratively by the student and their academic advisor.
