    About

    This is a 20 credit module at level 5.

    The award is delivered at Stockton Riverside College, one of Teesside University's partnership colleges.

    This module aims to provide you with a detailed understanding of safeguarding in an educational setting. It covers the legislative and policy background to safeguarding focusing on key aspects of child protection and child well-being considering the influence of the rights of these individuals.

    Current policies and legislative frameworks for safeguarding procedures – Prevent agenda and Fundamental British Values – Understanding child abuse and its social context – Recognising and dealing with action on safeguarding issues – Managing safeguarding in the educational setting – Ethics within safeguarding legislation which underpins practice in a range of different contexts

    How you learn

    You will learn through the delivery of lectures and seminars, through group work, independent study and 1:1 tutorials with your tutor.

    This module will be assessed through the completion of a training pack to support the delivery of safeguarding training to professionals working with children and young people equivalent to 3,000 words.

    Or, holders of a a Tawjihi 65%+ average plus a recognised foundation programme
