On this course, you will develop your knowledge of technical subject areas through an extension into managing health and safety while giving due consideration to the sustainable economic development of business and the environment. Graduates can apply and progress towards IOSH graduate status.
Health and Safety Management This module serves to provide students with core knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to create and develop an effective management system fully compliant with legal and statutory requirements.
Corporate Social Responsibility for Organisational Managers This module will look in detail at how ISO 26000 guidance is applied and the issues surrounding such implementation as part of a wider integrated management system.
Law for the Built Environment This module focuses on the importance of legal aspects of business law to underpin studies in corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Individual Dissertation Individual student research project focussing on a student’s chosen aspect of their subject.
Environmental Management: Focus on ISO 14001 Environmental Standard; evaluate business improvement strategies; topics include environmental planning, leadership, performance evaluation, KPIs like energy use, and audits.
Workplace Evaluation and Control: Systematic risk analysis of workplace hazards; understand legislative control; exceed legislative requirements for a safer workplace.
Business and Risk Management: Study of business management systems, communication, finances, and understanding risks at both strategic and operational levels.
Individual Dissertation: Guided, in-depth research project; learn research methodology, gather extensive evidence, critical analysis, argument synthesis, and present findings. Completed over two years.
