    About

    Become fluent in teaching newcomers to Canada with this unique program. You’ll take three years in the Modern Languages program and two years in Education, earning two degrees at once to become eligible to teach JK to Grade 6. Concentrations in Arabic/French/Spanish.

    Course Requirements: Grade 12 English Minimum Average: 75% Mean Average: 79% Minimum Average (Co-op): 80%; 70% minimum in English Note: Admission to first year only.

    English Program Requirements

    Evidence of English Language Proficiency

    All applicants whose native language is not English and who are ineligible for an exemption must demonstrate proficiency in English to be considered for admission. The following are acceptable forms of evidence to demonstrate English Language Proficiency (ELP). These scores represent the minimum institutional requirement; specific undergraduate and graduate programs may require higher overall scores or specific component scores. Detailed requirements are available in the Undergraduate and Graduate Calendars and on program-specific admission requirement webpages.

    1. A minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS – Academic or IELTS Online.
    2. A minimum score of 83 with a writing score of 20 on the TOEFL iBT® or TOEFL iBT® Home Edition. Paper-delivered TOEFL results are assessed individually.
    3. A minimum score of 115 for undergraduate applicants and 120 for graduate applicants on the Duolingo English Test (DET).
    4. A minimum score of 60 for undergraduates and 70 for graduates on the Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment or CAEL At Home online assessment.
    5. A minimum score of 60 for undergraduates and 65 for graduates on the Pearson Test of English (PTE) – Academic.
    6. A minimum overall score of 176 on the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE).
    7. Successful completion of the University of Windsor's English Language Improvement Program (ELIP) level III with a minimum final grade of 75%.
    8. Receive at least five semester transfer credits from a recognized English-speaking university for full-time study (not applicable to graduate applicants).
    9. Receive at least ten transfer credits from an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) or equivalent with an overall B average (not applicable to graduate applicants).
    10. Completion of the full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with a minimum score of 4 in HL/SL English A: Literature or English A: Language and Literature (English B not acceptable, not applicable to graduate applicants).
    11. Admissible under British-based GCSE, IGCSE, or GCE credentials with a minimum grade of B (O-Level) or C (A-Level) in English courses (not applicable to graduate applicants).
    12. Successful completion of an English Language Training Program offered by a publicly-assisted Canadian university.
    13. Successful completion of an English Language Training Program offered by a private Languages Canada-accredited provider with established pathways to programs offered by peer institutions.

    Note: The University reserves the right to require applicants with an ELP score that differs from their academic English prerequisite achievement to present further evidence of proficiency.
