    About

    The UA South M.Ed. in Secondary Education Program offers a pathway that prepare individuals to obtain Arizona certification to teach in grades six through twelve. 

    • Alternative Path – a two-year pathway that includes teaching full-time as a Teacher of Record on an Arizona Teaching Intern Certificate while taking classes both online and face-to-face and participating in interactive teacher education seminars (TES) Throughout the program, teaching interns receive support and guidance from assigned UA South coaches and mentors in addition to having a site-based mentor in the district and school in which they teach.

    Admissions Requirements
    • B.A. or B.S. degree
    • GPA of 3.0 on upper and lower division coursework toward the Bachelor's Degree (or the most recently completed 60 units)
    • Submit an online application through GradApp
    • Include a letter of intent stating why you want to be a teacher
    • Two letters of recommendation
    • A professional resume
    • Documented proof of application for Fingerprint Clearance Card from the Arizona Department of Public Safety

    International Students: Please note that this program does not meet the requirements for a student visa.

    • International applicants to Arizona Online campus, Global Direct campus, or a Global Microcampus should choose the Distance Learner (DL) visa type in their Application Profile.
    • International applicants to the Main campus must currently hold a US visa that permits incidental study. 
    • Please verify your visa eligibility with International Student Services before applying.  The application fee is non-refundable and will not be refunded if your visa status is not eligible.  
    • Applicants must meet all Graduate College minimum admission requirements, including English proficiency.
    • Applicants should be prepared to submit copies of their visa documents, additional transcripts, or degree documentation if requested.
