Mission
Social work is a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people. Principles central of social work are social justice, human rights, collective responsibility and respect for diversities. Utilizing theories of social work, social sciences, humanities and indigenous knowledges, social work deals with people and structures to address life challenges and promote wellbeing.
Graduates help individuals, families, small groups, organisations and communities to solve various social problems they are facing. They strive for problem cases to achieve ability to solve their challenges independently and to live healthy and successful life.
Aœ, Faculty of Health Sciences, Social Work Bachelors Degree Programme will start education with experienced faculty members in 2015-2016 Academic Year.
After successful completion of four years of social work education graduates will work in public and private sectors as social workers.
Program Objectives
Social Work Bachelors Degree Programmes aim is to educate professional social workers who have received necessary social work training in order to plan, organize and implement social services and practice social work profession.
Our aim as Aœ, Department of Social Work is to prepare our students who can transfer what is learned in classrooms into practice in different areas such as rural and urban settings, utilize scientific knowledge as necessary, and critically evaluate their own professional practice. In order to achieve these objectives our curriculum is organized as generalist social work education including field work in different fields of social work as well as social work research courses.
