Spanish Studies as subject in the Masters Teacher Training Course for Grammar Schools (Master of Education)

    About

The Masters degree programme places a particular emphasis on education sciences and teaching methodology. Students who take Spanish Studies only take one specialisation module in literature or linguistics. They also study advanced teaching methodology and complete practical training at a school, which is also supervised by the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. The Masters thesis module involves attending a colloquium in which students reflect on their topic and receive support in the writing process. Semester 1 2 3 4 Compulsory modules Advanced module in Teaching Methodology: Spanish as a Foreign Language in School Classes 8 CP Practical Training 7 CP Masters thesis Optional modules Masters specialisation module Linguistics OR Masters specialisation module Literature and Cultural Sciences

Teachers should enjoy interacting with children and young people. Furthermore, it should be taken into consideration that teaching staff must also interact with parents, education experts from other institutions and a large number of teacher colleagues. Of course, it is also important that students are interested in their chosen subjects, enabling them to get their pupils enthusiastic about the subjects. Multidisciplinary skills such as knowledge transfer are also required.

It is generally possible for graduates to change to a different federal state for their preparatory phase of teacher training; a test is taken on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the relevant local educational authorities. Graduates may also embark on an academic career by taking a doctorate. They also have the possibility to work in a non-school-based area in the subjects taken.
