    Students minoring in Spanish must complete 18 units with a grade equivalent of 2.00 or higher in each course. 12 units must be taken at the upper (300-400) level, 6 of which must be completed at Towson University. Students may transfer up to 6 units toward the minor.

    Native speakers of Spanish may earn up to 6 units for SPAN 301 and/or SPAN 302 by taking the Departmental Challenge Exam.

    SPAN 201 and SPAN 202 may be applied to the minor; however, students who have already completed a course at the 300-level may not register for lower-level courses.

    Only one of SPAN 300 or SPAN 306 may count as an elective.

    1. Students will demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of human communication and its disorders.
    2. Students will demonstrate an understanding of assessment of basic speech, language, and hearing difficulties and the ability to design a lesson plan to address such difficulties.
    3. Students will display competency in essential skills required of a college graduate by writing and presenting clearly and accurately on evidenced-based clinical practice topics.
    4. Students will demonstrate understanding of principles of anatomy and physiology associated with the auditory and vocal mechanisms as well as brain structures that support communication.
    5. Students will demonstrate knowledge of discipline-appropriate electronic resources and software applications appropriate for communication sciences and disorders.
