Foundation year

Supports you to gain the academic skills required for degree-level study.
Provides a grounding in key areas of health, education, psychology and wellbeing.

Degree

Enjoy specialist laboratories for sport science, biomechanics, strength and conditioning and a gait analysis track⁴.
You’ll be taught by staff with a broad range of academic and professional experience, many of whom have worked with a range of health initiatives, professional athletes and clubs (staff may be subject to change).

Undergraduate

Students applying with an International Baccalaureate. Please check the specific course page for the points needed.

Students who have successfully completed a recognised Foundation programme in the UK or internationally.

Students who have completed Year 1 of a 4 or 5 year Degree Programme in Saudi with an average CGPA of 3.0 out of 5 or 2.5 out of 4.

Students who National Diploma level qualifications High school Certificates

The foundation programme is required for students who have completed Thanawihya.

Students who hold Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations or Central Board of Secondary Education.

Students are required to have a UKVI IELTS score of at least 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill or TOEFL iBT with a score of 79 and a minimum component score of 18.

Top-up

Students who hold an Associate Degree should have CGPA of 3.0 out of 5.0.

Students who hold a Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 4.0 out of 5.0 (subject to syllabus match).

Postgraduate

Students who hold a Bachelor’s Degree should have an average grade of 60% or above.

Students who have an average grade of 70% or CGPA of 2.5 out of 4 for the Postgraduate Research programmes with a satisfactory research proposal.

Students are required to have a UKVI IELTS score of at least 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill or TOEFL iBT with a score of 88 and a minimum component score of 19.

Careers and opportunities

The multi-disciplinary and applied nature of this degree course aims to prepare you for a potential future career in sport or exercise, including scientific support, exercise training, health promotion and rehabilitation.

On successful completion, you will be able to:

demonstrate the key skills of a sport and exercise scientist: reflective practice; evidence-based practice; interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary practice; generic and specialised practical skills; health and safety (e.g. good laboratory practice) and ethical considerations
research, critique and present scientific information to scientific and other recipients
demonstrate problem solving and apply scientific information
design and implement scientific investigations, including data collection, analysis and interpretation.

The leisure industry is a major employer in the UK and many of our previous graduates have gone into managerial and service delivery roles in leisure and health centres, as well as teaching and research. Graduates who are more interested in the medical and health applications of exercise science can choose to go on to work within cardiac and other rehabilitation teams within the NHS, or with local councils within sports development or exercise for health schemes.
