    • Four- or five-year Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Studies in Sport and Recreation Management (depending on choice of fieldwork placement/paid internship)
    • Five-year Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Studies Internship/ Bachelor of Business Administration Joint Program
    In the four-year bachelor degree program through our Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies, learn about the management and business side of the sport and recreation industry at the local, provincial, national and international level.


    Expand your career opportunities even further with our five-year sport and recreation management joint bachelor degree program. This partnership between the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies and the Faculty of Business Administration results in two bachelor degrees.

    A sport and recreation management degree prepares you for careers in the sport, recreation, and tourism industries. The University of Regina offers the only sport and recreation management degree program in Saskatchewan. Our joint five-year degree is the only one of its kind in Western Canada.

    What Is Sport and Recreation Management?

    Sport and recreation management is the field of business that focuses directly on sports and recreation, including the activities that facilitate it. You will also learn about the motivations, constraints, and facilitation of people's participation in sport and recreation.

    In both the sport and recreation studies bachelor's degree, and the joint sport and recreation studies internship/business administration program, you will learn why sport, recreation, and leisure activities are important to a healthy, active and balanced lifestyle. You will also learn about the management and business side of sport and recreation.

    Some unique classes in the U of Regina sport and recreation management programs include:

    • Venue and Event Management – focuses on assessing events and facilities for management best practices and social responsibility.
    • Live Event Production and Sport Communication – a practicum-based course that gives you hands-on experience producing live sporting events and sport information management. Learn live media development and production and how to create content for social media outlets and webcasts.
    • Data Analytics in Sport – teaches you the skills to manage and analyze datasets in high-performance sport, and provide data-based insight to coaches, players and other participants.
    • Volunteer Management – provides you with skills related to managing volunteers and finance in the sport and recreation sector and beyond.

    The five-year sport and recreation studies internship/business administration joint program is the only program of its type in Western Canada.

    Fieldwork placement or paid internship

    Apply your knowledge in a real world setting. Fieldwork placements provide you with practical, hands-on learning experience and help you develop professional competency skills.

    In the sport and recreation management bachelor's degree, you will either complete a 4-month fieldwork placement, or an 8-to-12 month paid internship. In the joint sport and recreation studies internship/business administration program, you will have an 8-to-12 month paid internship.

    Both the fieldwork placement and the internship are a springboard into the industry and provide networking opportunities.

    Expert faculty members

    Learn from faculty members and instructors who work in the sport and recreation industry. They bring real world perspective and experience to the classroom.

    Live event broadcast and video production studio

    Get hands-on experience in the production of live sporting events and sport information management in our modern broadcast and production studio. Develop skills in interviewing, camera operation, direction, and production of replays and highlight packages. Learn live media development and production.

    Community service learning or volunteer opportunities

    In many of the courses you'll be working on-campus or in the local community on projects with community-based organizations. There are also opportunities on-campus and off-campus to gain volunteer and work-related experience in your field.

    2: Pay Application Fee

    There is a $100 (CAD) application fee required. You can pay your application fee by credit card when submitting your application form online.
