    UWS’s BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching will help you develop the skills and expertise required to become a professional sports coach.

    This degree has been developed in partnership with sports governing bodies, sporting organisations and coaching professionals to ensure that you develop knowledge and hands-on practical experience relevant to the modern sports, health and fitness industries.

    Eric Lands Top Soccer Coaching Role

    UWS Sport Coaching graduate, Eric Horsburgh, has secured a top soccer coaching job in Canada.

    Eric, 23, who graduated in 2016 from the University’s Hamilton Campus has immigrated to Canada and has taken-up the post of Head Coach of the Northwest Academy Centres for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

    Before moving to Canada in 2017, Eric volunteered as a coach at the Scottish Football Association and whilst at UWS, as part of his fourth year dissertation, worked as a football analyst for Motherwell FC’s U17 academy team.

    Entry Requirements

    Year 1:  Applicants must have completed the Certificate of General Secondary Education plus a relevant Foundation programme or Diploma Year 2:  Community College Diploma

    English Program Requirements

    If you do not fall into any of the categories above you will need to provide proof of your English language ability through the International English Language Test System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

    Duo Lingo

    For 2022-23 entry, the University has approved the use of the online Duolingo English test as evidence of English language ability. UWS will accept an overall score between 90-115 with no component score below 90.

    Career

    This programme will prepare you for a career in Sport Coaching. UWS graduates are currently working with local authorities, sports clubs, sports centres, health promotion initiatives, and sports governing bodies such as Netball Scotland or the Scottish Football Association.

    Many UWS graduates have found employment in roles and activities, including:

    • Planning, managing and delivering sport coaching at local, regional, national and international events and competitions
    • Sport coaching programme delivery for specific client groups such as at-risk youths or individuals with additional support needs
    • Delivering specific areas of sport science e.g. strength and conditioning and performance analysis
    • PE teachers
    • Outdoor education instructors
    • Active schools co-ordinators
    • Sport development officers

    You will be required to pay a deposit to secure your place at the university.

    9: Attend a TEG credibility interview

    The purpose of this interview is to assess if students are credible and genuine. At this stage you will need to prepare your CAS documents for review.

    10. Apply for Visa

    International students, including nationals from EEA or Switzerland, would require a student visa to study at UWS London.
