This foundation year course introduces you to different parts of sport, from coaching to health and fitness. This programme is for people who want to help others achieve their best.
You’ll learn how sport impacts people’s health and performance, both as individuals and in groups. You’ll learn about the physical, mental, and technical parts of coaching. You will also gain the skills to lead and manage groups in community and elite sports.
A foundation year also helps you to develop the academic skills you will need to study at degree level. With smaller classes and lots of support, you'll feel confident when you move to the full degree.
Upon successful completion of the foundation year, you’ll move onto the BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching course, or a related degree. Here, you can choose to specialise in areas like performance analysis, talent development, or health coaching. You can also choose to study abroad or complete a year in industry.
