    If you are interested in pursuing a career where you can combine a passion for sport, physical activity and exercise with a commitment to promoting health through science then this degree could be for you.

    Discover an applied understanding of sport, health and exercise sciences. Learn how to design and deliver exercise and health initiatives that make a real difference across diverse communities. This degree aims to apply theory to practice, combining education, community-based knowledge, science, and practical skills to improve wellbeing across the lifespan. You will gain hands-on experience in real world settings.

    You will learn how sport, physical activity and exercise can be used to prevent, manage and treat various physical and mental health conditions. And you will also explore the use of technology and data analytics in supporting health promotion, behaviour change, and encouraging people to be physically active.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Typical offer 104-112 UCAS Tariff points achieved through A Levels, BTEC, International Baccalaureate, Access Diploma, T Level, or Irish Leaving Certificate.
    Preferably to include relevant sports and science-related subjects such as physical education, psychology, sociology, and health and social care.

    Qualification Requirement A Level BCC-BBC. UCAS Tariff points 104-112 points. BTEC Extended Diploma (or combination of BTEC QCF qualifications) Distinction, Merit, Merit (DMM). T Level Overall grade of Merit. International Baccalaureate (IB) We are happy to accept IB qualifications which achieve the required number of UCAS Tariff points. Access to Higher Education Diploma 45 credits at Level 3, for example 9 credits at Distinction and 36 credits at Merit or 15 credits at Distinction and 30 credits at Merit. The required total can be attained from various credit combinations.

    English Program Requirements

    International students require IELTS 6.0, with a score no lower than 5.5 in each individual component, or an equivalent English language qualification.

    If your current level of English is half a band, one band, or one-and-a-half bands lower, either overall or in one or two elements, you may want to consider our Pre-Sessional English course.

    Our new Fair Entry Criteria is a Contextual Admissions Policy that takes an applicant’s personal and educational background into account.     Your future career

    This degree will prepare you for a wide range of careers in sport, physical activity and exercise, as well as the health and care sectors. These include roles in physical and mental health promotion, whether in communities and schools, or professional sports settings.

    The course will also prepare you for work in primary and secondary care settings, including through physical activity and exercise promotion as part of multi-disciplinary teams alongside other health professionals.

    Our students also have the opportunity to continue onto postgraduate study. And many train to become teachers with a PGCE in primary, secondary in physical education, or within further education.
