Based on the principles of the United Nations’ Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), and approved by the ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents), and Institute of Hospitality - the world’s leading, award-winning professional membership body for hospitality professionals - our degree is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to thrive in this ever-changing sector. The programme covers a wide range of strategic areas, from management, marketing, sales management, and entrepreneurship to finance management, leadership, human resources, and governance and policy.

    We believe in learning by doing. Through the internship, field trips, and hands-on projects, you will apply theories and strategic data-analytics skills developed as part of your master’s programme to identify, analyse, and proffer strategic and sustainable solutions to real-world challenges. We will provide you with networking opportunities and will connect you with professionals, alumni, and peers through our extensive tourism and hospitality networks. To make your education a personalised journey, we offer two optional modules for your individual project. You can engage in either a dissertation-research project or an internship and consultancy project to address current industry challenges, ensuring that you are at the forefront of industry innovations.

    This degree includes the opportunity to enhance your employability - and elevate your career - with a placement year, working full-time for a company. It’s a chance for you to immerse yourself in an industry, apply your knowledge and put theory into practice. It should also help you develop your professional skills and assist you in starting to make industry connections. Graduates with work experience are highly sought after by employers and often secure higher-level positions.The programme meets employer expectations by equipping students with essential hard and soft skills to excel in the workforce and advance into high-level management roles as global Tourism and Hospitality business leaders.

    Academic entry requirements

    For entry to our Master's programmes, you will need to have met the following:

    • Bachelors Degree with 60% or GPA 2.5/4 for UK 2:2 and GPA 3/4 for UK 2:1

    For some courses, you will need to have studied relevant subjects at university to be eligible. Our admissions team will determine this once you apply.

    Careers and placements

    Will I have a work placement?

    On this degree you will undertake, in your second year, a placement. The University will help as much as possible, before and during your placement, to ensure you make the most of this valuable experience but it is your responsibility to find - and secure - your placement. Greenwich Business School students have previously undertaken their placement with companies operating in a wide range of different sectors - retail and e-commerce, hospitality, media and advertising, events, and finance.

    How long is my placement?

    Work placements are a minimum of 40 weeks and a maximum of 46 weeks of full-time paid work.

    What are the financial arrangements?

    Placements are usually paid at competitive rates for entry level roles in your chosen industry.

    What sort of careers do graduates pursue?

    Careers in all aspects of the international tourism and hospitality industry are open to you, including leadership and managerial roles, business start-ups and consultancy.

    Graduates go on to roles in major tourism and hospitality businesses, large hotel companies, government tourism agencies, major online and high street travel and tour agencies, international tourism organisations, tour operators, airlines, marketing, and cultural, heritage, festival and other specialist tourism operations.

    Do you provide employability services?

    The University is committed to supporting your journey towards a rewarding graduate destination. Services available to students include CV, cover letter and application tips, interview support and events such as placement fairs and networking evenings. In addition, our Employability Service’s support is available to students up to two years after their graduation.
