    About

    Our staff are highly experienced and include UKSCA accredited and NSCA certified coaches as well as BASES Sport and Exercise Scientists.

    Our MSc Strength, Conditioning & Performance Science is set in the context of the current strength and conditioning climate, where there is an emphasis on the need to develop quality strength and conditioning support services for all ages across the performance sport sector in what is a rapidly growing and evolving industry.

    Entry Requirements

    Bachelor degree For programmes requiring a 2:1: 
    A final grade of at least Very good/76% or a GPA of 3.0/4.0 For programmes requiring a 2:2: 
    A final grade of at least Very good/76% or a GPA of 3.0/4.0

    English Program Requirements

    All applicants for undergraduate programmes will need a minimum English level of IELTS or equivalent 6.0 overall, with no less than 6.0 in writing and no less than 5.5 in all other bands. Some programmes require 6.5/7.0 – please contact the International Office if you are unsure of your course requirement.

    For postgraduate entry all applicants will need a minimum of IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in writing and no less than 5.5 in all other bands or equivalent. Some courses have a higher requirement – please contact the International Office if you are unsure of your course requirement.

    For International Foundation entry all applicants will need a minimum of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent, with no less than 5.0 in writing and no less than 4.0 in all other bands.

    If you have taken an IGCSE exam in English and have a Grade C, this will also usually be acceptable for most undergraduate courses.

    We are also able to consider some non-UK English qualifications for entry. The International Admissions Team will advise if they are able to accept your English language qualification once you have applied.

    Career

    This course is designed to enhance the employment prospects of those that want to work in applied sport science by developing both academic knowledge and an advanced practical skill set for varied roles within this industry. The course is designed for those who wish to work or undertake further study in the sport performance industry. Specifically, the course offers you the opportunity to study a breadth of topic areas, but also an element of self-direction in the topics and practical skills that you would wish to enhance and be assessed on. The course is of particular relevance, though not exclusive, to recent graduates of sport and exercise science, strength and conditioning, or related disciplines. The course is suited for those interested in careers such as accredited strength and conditioning coaches, sport rehabilitators, sport and exercise physiologists, sport performance specialists, or various roles in the sport and fitness industry or further study. Graduates of the programme will have the potential to pursue careers as professional strength and conditioning coaches working for sports institutes, professional sports teams and national sport governing bodies, technical coaches, work within the health and fitness industry as advanced physical trainers, specialist consultants and teachers (secondary and tertiary education). Graduates may pursue specialist roles in education institutions where the focus is on athletic development or a role related to rehabilitation and conditioning.
