    Why this course?

    Supply chain management is a critical business competency. It encompasses procurement of materials, processing and distribution of products and services to customers as well as:

    • initial design
    • procurement of materials and services
    • processing and distribution to the customer either directly or through a network of distributors

    In many companies, 80% or more of their turnover is spent outside the organisation. This course helps you become effective in managing this. It’s designed for those who'll work within supply chain management. It’s also suitable for anyone with a background in support functions such as sales, maintenance, finance and marketing.

    This course will cover the latest logistics requirements, for example:

    • ability from logistics managers to enhance business opportunities to circular economy approaches and digital manufacturing;
    • rise of sales through ecommerce also requires accurate demand and supply forecast from logistics area.

    This course is delivered in partnership by the Department of Design, Manufacturing & Engineering Management, and the Department of Management Science. This collaboration between engineering and business benefits from the combination of technical and organisational expertise.

    Entry Requirements

    Academic requirements

    Normally a first-class or second-class honours degree (or international equivalent) in a relevant engineering, technology, science or business-related discipline.

    Undergraduate

    Students who have studied the Tawjihiyya/Thanawiya General School Certificate are eligible for entry via a foundation programme from the ISC. Students that have studied an International Qualification such as A Levels, IB Diploma, French Bac or the American High School system should check the relevant country.

    Postgraduate

    A good degree from a recognised Higher Education Institution is acceptable for postgraduate study at Strathclyde. Our applications are judged on a case-by-case basis and can vary depending on the course. As a guide, we normally consider a GPA of 2.8 out of 4 and 3.8 out of 5.

    English Program Requirements

    We accept a number of English language tests as proof of proficiency in English. IELTS is the most widely available. Information on this can be found on the British Council Website.

    Our current standard requirements are:

    • IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
    • Faculty of Science: IELTS (Academic): 6.0 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
    • Faculty of Engineering (Undergraduate only): IELTS (Academic): 6.0 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
