    About

    This module is suitable for professionals who are looking to extend their knowledge and understanding in relation to supporting and protecting children, young people and families.

    This module will enable you to critically explore strategies to support and protect vulnerable children, young people, families and groups.

    • The appraisal of theories and concepts of abuse connecting to current legislation, policies and guidelines.
    • The examination of frameworks used to manage risk and resilience.
    • The formulation of strategies to support working with children, young people, families and other vulnerable individuals and groups.
    • The appraisal of roles and responsibilities within interagency work to protect children, young people, families and other vulnerable individuals and groups
    • The evaluation of personal and professional development in relation to working with children, young people, families and other vulnerable individuals and groups.

    Learning Methods

    This module is delivered online through the University's Virtual Learning Environment, CampusMoodle, with methods including online chat, virtual classroom and discussion forums. You will engage with directed and self-directed learning activities supported by the module team.

    Independent Study

    You are expected to undertake approximately 15 hours a week independent study.

    English Program Requirements

    This module is a core module within the MSc Advancing Practice (School Nursing) and MSc Advancing Practice (Health Visiting) routes. Credit from this module may also contribute to the MSc Advancing Practice (Nursing) and (Clinical routes) or the Professional Studies Framework.
