The Graduate Certificate for Teachers of History is intended for licensed teachers of secondary school history who are seeking the necessary credentials to be able to teach dual credit (college and high school) courses in their high schools. This certificate will provide teachers with the required 18 graduate credit hours of coursework in the discipline of history.
This graduate certificate can be begun in any term (fall, spring, or summer) and can generally be completed within 12-15 months. The program requires completion of a course in historical methodology and two historiographical seminars, leading to a concentration in US, European, or World History. The program requirements are finished by taking 6 credits from a selection of topical seminars and directed readings.
Students successfuly completing this certificate program may be able to use these credits toward the completion of appropriate Masters in History and Masters in Education degrees.
