    About

    This enriching program will prepare you to become a specialist educator of English as a Second Language (ESL) and Greek Language and Culture. TESL preparation is for both the elementary level (including regular and intensive ESL) and the secondary level (including regular ESL and EESL – Enriched English as a Second Language).

    The program consists of both academic and student-teaching field experience components. The academic coursework within the program will provide you with opportunities to develop in-depth understandings of Greek language and culture, as well as examining language learning from linguistic, social, cultural, and psychological perspectives. You will graduate with both the theoretical and practical experience necessary to thrive in your future career.

    Applicants are reviewed on their high school transcript with particular emphasis on yearly averages and results in prerequisite subjects (prerequisite subjects must have been completed during the last two years of high school).

    Bologna-signatory countries

    McGill welcomes qualified applicants from throughout Europe, including from schools in Bologna signatory countries. Applicants will be considered for admission into McGill degree programs of similar duration as those at comparable, research-intensive universities in Europe. Accordingly, qualified applicants to the faculties of Arts, Education, and Management at McGill, with a Bologna-compliant diploma that leads to a three-year undergraduate program in Europe, will be admissible to a three-year program at McGill. Students in Management will be required to complete additional mathematics coursework.

    Students who complete this undergraduate degree are qualified to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) in elementary and secondary schools as well as Greek language and culture in Hellenic schools. ESL teachers are in demand in Quebec, across Canada, and internationally.
