    Overview As part of your graduate studies, in the Teaching English, Grades 7–12, Initial Certification from New York University, you'll take core methods courses that link theory to practice and focus on issues related to the teaching of English, such as the teaching of reading and writing, fostering language development, and the ways language can be used as a force for both liberation and oppression.The degree's core pedagogical courses are experience-based, encouraging you not only to read and analyze literary works, but also to consider how you would teach these works in engaging ways to help students develop a deeper understanding of literary themes.  You will work closely with our nationally recognized faculty members to learn:Teaching theories and approaches for middle and high school studentsHow to integrate content mastery with teaching materials in order to provoke inquiry-based learningClassroom strategies that are innovative and appropriate for teaching today's studentsCareer OpportunitiesThis program leads to eligibility for New York State initial teaching certification for students in grades 7–12, with an option to pursue a certificate extension to also teach grades 5–6. Upon graduation, you’ll be prepared to pursue a number of employment opportunities, including:Teacher of English at the middle school or high school levelTeacher trainer or curriculum specialist in middle and high schools, educational agencies, and community collegesEducational consultantEditor in academic or educational publishing I want to find another Master Course
    Upon completion of the Teaching English, Grades 7–12, Initial Certification from New York University, you’ll be eligible for New York State initial teaching certification for students in grades 7–12, with an option to pursue an extension for grades 5–6.
