    Translation Studies

    About

The program offers an opportunity for language professionals and graduates in translation or in another field to engage in research in Translation Studies.

This program is designed for two categories of students:

    • those with a BA (Honours) in Translation and some experience in translation who wish to expand their knowledge and deepen their reflection on the practice
    • those with a BA (Honours) in another discipline who have practiced translation or who have developed a scholarly interest in translation (in this case, candidates must complete a preparatory program before applying)

The program offers students a full range of theoretical, conceptual and methodological tools necessary for a deeper analysis and understanding of issues related to translation.

Classes are held at Glendon, York's bilingual campus. Usually, two courses per year are delivered online. Most courses are offered in English but we also offer some courses in French.

Thesis and research work can focus on a wide range of research topics and language combinations and can be written in English or in French.

Professors in the program are prominent members of the international translation studies community.

The dynamic translation studies community at Glendon offers a variety of research-related activities throughout the year, as conferences, workshops, research meetings, etc.
