Urban Studies

Certificates allow you to complete a specific group of university courses (for credit) as either part of your degree studies or separately. Additional details on certificates are available here.

Drawing on the work of scholars and researchers who have explored the urban field from a range of perspectives in the social sciences and humanities, the program? courses encourage a critical appreciation both of the everyday life that we experience as Canadian city-dwellers today, as well as of the modern city in historical and comparative context.

Who can take it?

This certificate is open to current York students in a degree program.

If your first language is not English, you must show you have an acceptable level of English by completing a language proficiency test.

If you have completed at least one full year at an accredited university in a country where English is the official language of the institution, you may be exempt from this requirement.
