Villanova Summer Business Institute Business

VSB's Summer Business Institute (SBI) is a full-time, ten week accelerated program created exclusively for non-business majors. SBI's 16 credit program, scheduled from the end of May – end of July, uses a cohort-based model and is designed to be completed in one-summer with peers from other non-business majors. SBI is taught by VSB faculty members and covers key business disciplines beginning with an overall introduction to the fundamentals of business and exposure to Excel.  The courses include accounting, business law, economics, finance, analytics, information technology, management, and marketing. A professional development course, including events and workshops, completes the curriculum. Courses are delivered online in an integrated manner, so that the basics of business make sense within the larger context of other professional fields. Villanova students who successfully complete SBI earn a business minor.  Non-Villanova students earn a certificate in business.

The application is open to all qualified students and recent graduates from any accredited, 4-year college or institution. Note: International applicants must be matriculated in a full-time program of study at a U.S. institution.

SBI applications will be accepted from January 5 until April 15. Decisions are made on a rolling basis beginning mid-January; early submission of applications is encouraged. Complete information can be found online at business.villanova.edu/sbi. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available to Villanova students; scholarship applicants must apply by March 15. For Villanova students, SBI credit may apply to the degree requirements in their primary academic college. Students should confirm with their Dean's Office or academic advisor to find out how the SBI coursework may apply. Non-Villanova students should check with their primary institution about how SBI credits may transfer.

Villanova students who successfully complete SBI will earn a business minor and may also pursue an additional VSB minor, or VSB coursework, in one of the following business disciplines: Accounting, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Business Analytics, Business Law and Corporate Governance, Consulting, Finance, International Business, Management Information Systems, Marketing, or Real Estate. Prior to enrolling in any VSB discipline-specific minor course(s), VSB approval is required and additional pre-req coursework may also be required.
