University of California, Merced
About
UC Merced opened on Sept. 5, 2005, as the newest campus in the University of California system and the first American research university of the 21st century. Situated near Yosemite National Park, the campus significantly expands access to the UC system for students throughout the state, with a special mission to increase college-going rates among students in the San Joaquin Valley. It also serves as a major base of advanced research, a model of sustainable design and construction, and a stimulus to economic growth and diversification throughout the region.
Besides being a world-class public research university with the feel of a small, private campus, there are a lot of reasons why people are increasingly interested in becoming Bobcats. UC Merced is a special place where intelligent, spirited people gather to learn, grow and reach their highest potential. Bobcats are people who care about each others' success and ability to thrive and care about the world around them.
UC Merced is a place where nature touches every part of the campus. It's an extremely green place that is, by design, transforming the region economically, academically, and environmentally. It's a place where students at all levels have opportunities to stretch themselves intellectually and experientially, in close concert with faculty members who are stars and rising stars in their fields.
Potential undergraduate students and graduate students are welcome to discover why UC Merced might be the right campus for them.
