    Our BSc Accounting and Financial Management course is designed to prepare you for careers in diverse areas of accounting, finance and management and to equip you to deal with the challenges of an ever-changing business world.

    Our BSc Accounting and Financial Management course is designed to prepare you for careers in diverse areas of accounting, finance and management and to equip you to deal with the challenges of an ever-changing business world.

    One of our key goals of is to develop the wider skills and intellectual independence our graduates will need to thrive in a long, rewarding professional career. We help you develop the technical accounting and finance skills needed to get a head start in your professional career but we also place accounting firmly in its business context.

    Our Accounting and Financial Management degree is approved by major professional accounting bodies in the UK (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, and ICAEW) and graduates can gain exemptions from some of their examinations or credits for prior learning. However, we offer the opportunity to study a much wider range of subjects than those of the narrow professional syllabuses.

    We are committed to helping you stand out in a highly competitive graduate job market and the course has a first-rate graduate employability record.

    The course develops skills valued by employers including independent learning and research, analytical skills, teamwork, presentation skills, project work, computer skills and numeracy. The wide variety of optional modules allows you to develop specialist skills and tailor your degree to suit your career aspirations.

    Skills for employability is a key part of the Loughborough experience and can really boost your job prospects and this degree has a module specifically built in to help you develop your study and employability skills. There are also specific modules in entrepreneurship to help those with aspirations to start or develop their own businesses.

    Our BSc (Hons) Accounting and Financial Management degree shares the same first year modules as our Finance and Management degree. If you realise at the end of your first academic year that you prefer the finance route, you may transfer to our Finance and Management degree.

    In the first year, you will develop key quantitative, computing, communication, and study skills and be introduced to financial accounting fundamentals and principles of finance. These provide a firm foundation for modules in subsequent years to build on.

    In the second year you will start to study management accounting and develop more technical financial accounting skills. You will also take a modules in financial markets (including foreign exchange) and derivatives, performance appraisal and stock valuations, and ethics.

    In the final year you will focus on strategic management accounting and advanced financial reporting. You can choose from a wide range of options (including financial risk management and multinational financial management) to suit your career aspirations.

    Entry Requirements

    Students taking the Tawjihi (General Secondary Education Certificate) will need to complete a suitable Foundation Year.

    Loughborough University has its own Foundation Year for high-calibre international students who have successfully completed 12 years of school education. Alternatively, please contact the International Office to check if the Foundation Programme that you are considering taking is acceptable for entry to Loughborough courses.

    Students with A Level or IB qualifications will be considered for direct entry to undergraduate degree courses. Please see the undergraduate prospectus for specific course requirements. Requirements for American SATs and APs can be found under the country requirements for USA.

    Students must also achieve the University’s English language requirements.

    English Program Requirements

    The standard University IELTS English language requirement is 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each individual element (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Some Schools/Departments may require higher levels of English language than those specified. The requirements needed, will be sent to you in your offer communication.

    For Research Degrees, some Schools/Departments may ask for a higher standard of English language qualifications due to the nature of the research work involved. Details will be included in your offer letter if this applies.

    For Undergraduate Degree courses, some Schools/Departments may require higher levels than those specified.  These higher levels are detailed, where relevant and more information can be found here.

    English language tests should have been taken within the previous two years. Where a school-based qualification is used to meet the English language requirement, this should have been taken within the past ten years. Evidence of continuing use of English, whether in the workplace or elsewhere, in the intervening period may be considered as supporting evidence of English language ability where a qualification was taken more than ten years ago.

    Register with UCAS

    Before you can do anything, you will need to register with UCAS (the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). This is the official application route for the majority of full-time undergraduate courses.

    If you are at school or college, you will be given a buzzword which will associate your account with your institution. It will also allow your teacher to input their reference.
