About
You will be able to critically explore the theories, principles, and concepts which underpin improving health and wellbeing.
Key topics include:
- The fundamental concepts and principles of public health
- The impact of health inequalities, poverty, vulnerability and social exclusion within society on health, locally and nationally, and relevant policy
- Public health approaches
- Identifying and assessing the health and social needs of individuals across the lifespan and within populations
- Strategies and approaches to addressing healthcare needs of individuals across the lifespan and populations
Learning Methods
This module is delivered online through the University's Virtual Learning Environment, CampusMoodle, with methods including online chat, virtual classroom and discussion forums. You will engage with directed and self-directed learning activities supported by the module team.
Independent Study
You are expected to undertake approximately 15 hours a week independent study.
Assessment
This course is assessed througha 3,000 word essay (critical discussion).
