    Building Information Modelling: Strategy and Concepts

    About

    You will gain an ability to develop a clear and in-depth critical awareness of building information modeling, and the tools and processes involved.

    • Concepts of building information modelling (BIM)
    • Design teams
    • Multi-discipline implications of BIM
    • IT and other tools pertinent to the application of BIM
    • Shared models
    • BIM protocols and best practice guidance
    • Selected case studies from industry
    • COBie
    • Data drops
    • Application of software based processes within selected case study projects

    Learning Methods

    Learning will take place through the University virtual campus, CampusMoodle, with a mix of online lectures, tutorials and self-guided study.

    Each topic within the module will have a number of self-required and obligatory activities aimed at emphasising the learning.

    You will also contribute to a number of discussion forums on particular subject matter and case studies.

    Assessment

    The module is assessed through coursework assignment, including where appropriate group working activities.

    Students are assessed by written assignment, including essay.

    • Applicants who do not hold an International High School qualification will be expected to undertake a pathway programme at our International College

    English Program Requirements

    Most undergraduate courses require an IELTS score of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in each area. Some courses require a higher English language score. Always check the relevant course page and our English Language Requirements page before applying.

    Within the UK, both the RIBA and the RICS have made significant efforts to lead discussion and debate regarding how visualisation and BIM will revolutionise the undertaking of architectural projects in the coming years.
