    About

    The first program of its kind in Canada, the MClSc program is a one-year (three terms) course-based master's program offering an opportunity for experienced health-care professionals to obtain advanced training in a clinical specialty. Interdisciplinary Pain Management and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation fields are delivered online, while other fields are delivered using a combination of online courses and two to three on-site residency periods lasting one to three weeks each during which clinical skills lectures and labs are provided.

    Admission Requirements

  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency in Canada*
  • A minimum baccalaureate degree from a recognized university and at least a (B) standing (or equivalent grade point average) over the final two years of the program
  • A current license to practice in Canada*
  • Comfortable using computers
  • Applicants who first language is not English must show evidence of their proficiency in the use of the English language
  • Additional Requirements

    Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

    • Level II Upper and Lower courses in the CPA Orthopaedic Division Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy
    • 30 hours of documented mentoring
    • Two years of full-time experience in orthopaedic physical therapy

    Wound Healing

    • Must be a licensed/regulated health care professional in Canada from a discipline related to wound care (nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, chiropodist, dietitian)
    • Evidence of at least two years clinical experience in wound care

    Interdisciplinary Pain Management

    • Two years of full time equivalent clinical experience
    • Proof of current registration to practice
    • Proof of routine exposure to a clinical population (e.g. proof of employment in a clinical setting, if self-employed then some indication of the practice, like a sample daily caseload (de-identified), clinic website with clinician name listed)
    • A statement describing the provisions in place to allow time for the requirements of the program (e.g. agreement from employer for some degree of protected time, some indication that work can be conducted in parallel with degree requirements)
    • A personal statement answering the question: Why have you chosen to apply to this Interprofessional Pain Management program?

    Sport and Exercise Medicine

    • A current license to practice in Canada
    • Evidence of more than two years of experience in sport/musculoskeletal physical therapy inclusive of more than 50 hours of sport event coverage/volunteering
      • A paragraph describing their role in delivering care to an active population, or equivalent; and a reference letter that endorses the evidence of experience
    • Be a member in good standing with Sport Physiotherapy Canada (SPC)
    • A current license to practice in Canada
    • Evidence of more than two years of experience in sport/musculoskeletal medicine inclusive of more than 50 hours of sport event coverage/volunteering, or equivalent
      • A paragraph describing the applicant's role in delivering care to an active population and a reference letter that endorses the evidence of experience
    • Members in good standing with the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM) and home provincial regulatory college at the time of application

    Upper Extremity Rehabilitation Field

    • A current license to practice Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy in Canada if seeking mentorship practice opportunity in Canada
    • Physiotherapists / Occupational Therapists practicing outside of Canada must be licensed to practice in their country of residence

    Clinical Epidemiology and Research Management

    • Evidence of more than 2 years of experience in clinical practice, OR
    • Physician trainees may enter after postgraduate year 3 (PGY3) or beyond
    • Evidence of more than two years of related experience, post-undergrad (including participants in the MD+ program)

    English Program Requirements

    English Language Proficiency

    Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of their proficiency in the use of the English language by a satisfactory achievement within the last two years in one of the following:

    Applicants who are required to present evidence of proficiency in English must make their own arrangements to complete one of the above tests or programs and to have the official results sent directly to SGPS by the testing agency.
