There are a range of specialist modules and topics available to suit your interests. You'll learn about important social issues like race, poverty, social inequality, mental health, crime and more. You will explore these topics in depth, studying key theories and considering how they affect the world around us. You will also learn about social care practice, including safeguarding, relational practice and government policy.
During your degree, you will help to organise our InTouch Conference. This is an annual conference which focuses on a particular theme each year. You will need to contact industry professionals and book speakers. You will also need to arrange a number of talks, workshops, and stalls. This will allow you to grow your network and develop key employable skills.
Course team members are experienced academics with research and scholarly activity in community or social care practice. Many staff on the course team have worked as qualified social workers, whilst most others have direct experience of practice in the social care and community development sectors.
In addition to enhancing your employment opportunities, the programme provides essential educational underpinnings for learners to progress onto further postgraduate study and research. For example, in social work, social policy, education and community leadership.
