You will develop an in-depth understanding of how the human body works, what happens when it goes wrong, how we currently treat disorders, and the potential for novel therapeutics. A degree in Applied Medical Science provides a comprehensive grounding relevant to careers in laboratory research, medicine and commercial enterprise in the life sciences. We have three employability strands to choose from in your second year (subject to eligibility): Medical Science in Practice, Enterprise and Innovation, and Medical Science in Research. These have been specially designed with experts to provide you with an insight into potential career options.

Requirements

Entry Requirements

Applicants will need to achieve 128-136 UCAS points by attaining one of the following qualification sets or Swansea University approved equivalent.

A-levels/Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales: AAB-BCC. Biology or Chemistry essential plus one other STEM subject*.

BTEC: Typically D*D*D. A strong Biology or Chemistry profile is essential plus a good profile in one other STEM subject*.

Access: Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Irish Leaving Certificate: Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Scottish Highers: Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

IB: Overall score of 34. Higher Level Biology or Chemistry essential plus one other STEM subject* both at Grade 6 or above.

T Levels: We welcome applicants with T levels. Applicants will be assessed on a case by case basis.

As well as one of the above qualification sets, all applicants are required attain:

GCSE: English and Maths minimum Grade C/4**.

For applicants whose first language is not English, all applicants are required to attain:

IELTS: 6.0 (or equivalent) and no less than 5.5 in each component.

SWELT: Applicants will be judged on individual merit.
