    About

Our innovative Architecture course aims to nurture creative design leaders who flourish in architectural practice, with first-rate communication and management skills, as well as multidisciplinary knowledge and abilities. It aims to produce exceptional architects through an education that is immersed in hands-on experiences.

Architects are involved in the planning and design of the buildings and spaces we inhabit. Architecture is everywhere and brings together many fields of human endeavour, including art, history, physics, engineering, and more.

Our Architecture undergraduate degree is an innovative course founded on Loughborough's 100 years of 'theory and practice' culture to foster learning in both the University and the workplace. The Architecture degree will allow you to study with allied courses in the School and wider University to mimic real-life work scenarios. More specifically, the Architecture degree exploits our internationally-renowned expertise across the built environment disciplines, including construction, engineering, and building energy. A significant part of the Architecture degree is studio-based, supported by a dedicated team of architectural practitioners.

Every year, we hold an End of Year Show to celebrate the years achievements and showcase student work to practitioners interested in hiring our students and graduates.

The course will exempt you from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Part I exam. Transfer onto our extended MArch programme may be possible upon completion of this degree to take a step towards becoming a Chartered Architect.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

Students taking the Tawjihi (General Secondary Education Certificate) will need to complete a suitable Foundation Year.

Loughborough University has its own Foundation Year for high-calibre international students who have successfully completed 12 years of school education. Alternatively, please contact the International Office to check if the Foundation Programme that you are considering taking is acceptable for entry to Loughborough courses.

Students with A Level or IB qualifications will be considered for direct entry to undergraduate degree courses. Please see the undergraduate prospectus for specific course requirements. Requirements for American SATs and APs can be found under the country requirements for USA.

Students must also achieve the University’s English language requirements.

    English Program Requirements

The standard University IELTS English language requirement is 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each individual element (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Some Schools/Departments may require higher levels of English language than those specified. The requirements needed, will be sent to you in your offer communication.

For Research Degrees, some Schools/Departments may ask for a higher standard of English language qualifications due to the nature of the research work involved. Details will be included in your offer letter if this applies.

For Undergraduate Degree courses, some Schools/Departments may require higher levels than those specified.  These higher levels are detailed, where relevant and more information can be found here.

English language tests should have been taken within the previous two years. Where a school-based qualification is used to meet the English language requirement, this should have been taken within the past ten years. Evidence of continuing use of English, whether in the workplace or elsewhere, in the intervening period may be considered as supporting evidence of English language ability where a qualification was taken more than ten years ago.

    How to Apply

    Register with UCAS

Before you can do anything, you will need to register with UCAS (the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). This is the official application route for the majority of full-time undergraduate courses.

If you are at school or college, you will be given a buzzword which will associate your account with your institution. It will also allow your teacher to input their reference.

    The application consists of 6 sections, these include;

    • Section 1: Personal Details
    • Section 2: University Choices
    • Section 3: Formal Qualifications
    • Section 4: Employment History
    • Section 5: Personal Statement
    • Section 6: Reference

These sections can be completed in any order, but it’s important that before you submit your application each section is checked prior to submission, to ensure there are no mistakes.
